Good tools are essential for achieving flawless make-up application and even if you go for a minimal look, just a few exquisite brushes will make a huge difference. Choosing quality products will be proven as the best option, as you will enjoy to see that your brushes preserve their shape during time, are resistant to washing and cleaning with a brush cleanser and they keep the same softness for years. So here’s the selection of my favorites:
Face Brushes
• perfect for applying cream or liquid foundations, BB or CC creams providing an impeccable finish
Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge
• for those who like applying foundation with a sponge, this one is great especially when it’s used wet
Sigma Precision Flat P80 and Sigma Precision Tapered P86
• both really good for applying concealer under the eyes, around the nose or anywhere that you need a bit of extra coverage; the tapered one is particularly good for reaching small areas with it’s tip
Real Techniques Duo-Fiber Set (3 brushes)
• the biggest brush in the set is ideal to powder the whole face with a small amount of product, so the finish is really natural
• the contour brush is great to use with cream sculpting products or cream blushes to achieve perfect cheekbones without any stripes
• the smallest brush in the collection is designed for eyes, but I like to use it for feathery highlighter application
• my favorite one to apply powder blush and also contour with powder due to it’s impeccable angular shape
• this is an eye brush but I like to use it to apply powder on small areas of the face especially to set the concealer, so it stays put all day long without any creasing
Eyebrow Brushes
M.A.C.208 and Da Vinci Eye 43730 (4)
• I’m using the M.A.C. one with powder products and the Da Vinci one with creamy or gel textures for brows, it is really suitable for precise application (also great as an eyeliner brush)
Eye Brushes
• for easy eyeshadow application on upper and lower lid
M.A.C. 217 or Sigma Blending E25
• same shape, same brilliant results for blending eyeshadow
• a pointed small brush, perfect for smudging the pencil along the lash line or adding precise definition into the crease
Da Vinci Eye 43730 (8) and M.A.C. 211 Brush
• the first one is an angular shaped, razor sharp synthetic brush for the easiest eyeliner application and the M.A.C. one has a pointed shape, also synthetic, for thin, crisp lines
Lip Brushes
Da Vinci Lip Brush and Real Techniques Retractable Lip Brush
• both are very good choices for controlled lipstick and lipgloss application
