Guide for choosing the perfect foundation

Choosing the right foundation is not always an easy task. In many cases you go shopping with something in mind and return with a product that doesn’t match your skin type. This happens because we all want that flawless base, but we get lost in the multitude of different options. There are two important aspects to take into consideration when you pick your foundation: color and formulation.

When it comes to find the right color, here are my tips:

• determine if you have yellow or pink undertone by looking at your skin as a whole, not only at your face and pay extra attention to the color of your neck and decolletage (after you apply the foundation your face, neck and decolletage have to be the same color)

• compare your skin tone with family or friends in order to see differences from very pale, to olive and dark skin

• foundation tends to oxidize and get a bit darker when in contact with natural oils of the skin, so you can choose a slightly lighter shade than your complexion

When it comes to formulation you can choose the right one by responding yourself to three questions:

• What my skin type is? (oily, combination, normal, dry)

• What coverage do I want? (full, medium, sheer)

• What finish am I looking for? (matte, demi-matte, natural, dewy, satin) Example: I am combination, I want medium coverage and matte finish.

This way you target exactly what you want and even if you choose a product from a brand you haven’t tried before, you’ll know what to ask for.

High quality of information. Initially, I believed your post was a long time, however it needed the length.
